The CNS regrets to announce the passing of Robert T. Leshner, M.D. last Friday, February 12, 2021. A native of Brooklyn and son of a general practitioner who practiced out of the family home, Bob was the quintessential clinician, teacher, and investigator. Bob attended Cornell for undergraduate and medical school, spent twenty years of his career at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, and then was on the faculty at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC and, subsequently, Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

A superbly astute clinician who was an early figure in pediatric neuromuscular disease, Dr. Leshner recognized the impact of the molecular revolution and targeted therapies very early in its evolution. Bob was a beloved figure in child neurology, and those of us lucky enough to cross his path will miss his insights, humor, and humility.
