I wish everyone a happy holiday season. As we approach the end of November, I want to draw your attention to a few deadlines and developments worth noting for December and the year ahead.
CNS Lifetime Achievement Awards Named in Honor of Roger Brumback
I am pleased to announce that the CNS Board approved past-President Steve Roach’s proposal that the Child Neurology Society establish a memorial fund in Roger Brumback’s name sufficient to fund presentation at each CNS Annual Meeting of two Lifetime Achievement Awards. Roger was a respected and valued colleague in our community who contributed tirelessly to many child neurology efforts. He will be widely remembered for launching the Journal of Child Neurology, for his role as a national thought leader, often bringing a unique and important perspective to many topics in child neurology, and as a lively and valued colleague and friend. Members may make tax-deductible contributions to the Roger Brumback Lifetime Achievement Award Memorial Fund on the CNS website beginning December 1.
Submit Symposium/Seminar Proposals On-Line for 2016 CNS Annual Meeting
All CNS members are invited to submit symposium/seminar proposals on-line for the 45th Child Neurology Society Annual Meeting to be held in Vancouver, October 26-29, 2016. Vancouver is a world class meeting venue and we encourage those submitting proposals to consider including an international thought leader as one of the featured speakers in their proposal. Although some of the world’s best topic experts and lecturers come from within our Society, it is still nice to have an eclectic, diverse point of view on many topics. Proposals may be submitted on the CNS website beginning December 1; submission deadline is January 15.
The CNS Needs You — Volunteer to Serve on a Committee
We are looking for new members to be involved in the ongoing work of CNS committees. We will try to accommodate as many people as possible in their requested committee assignments. Available committees are listed on the Child Neurology Society website (http://www.childneurologysociety.org//member-services/committees) listing names of those rotating off or remaining on the committees, as well as their 2015 charges, many which will carry over, with new charges in 2016. If you are interested, please let me know by December 10 via email sent to me (mack.kenneth@mayo.edu) or Roger Larson (rblarson@childneurologysociety.org).
I am excited about our Child Neurology Society. It is an active, committed, and productive community devoted to helping children with neurologic needs. I am proud to be a part of this community and look forward to representing and meeting your needs and interests over the next two years.
