Jeffrey Strelzik, MD
Dr. Strelzik is an pediatric neurologist and Assistant Professor of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine and Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences with special interest in Concussion and Headache. He is co-director of the Interdisciplinary Concussion Care Clinic at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. He is the Co-Director of the TBI Special Interest Group for the Child Neurology Society.
Sean Rose, MD
Dr. Rose is a pediatric neurologist with fellowship training in Sports Neurology. He is co-director of the Complex Concussion Clinic at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at The Ohio State University. His research includes the effects of repetitive head impacts in youth sports, treatment of persisting symptoms after concussion, and concussion in early childhood.
Rachel Pearson, MD
Dr. Rachel Pearson is a pediatric neurologist at Children’s Hospital Orange County where she is the Director of the Brain Injury Program. She is also Program Director for the UC-Irvine and Children’s Hospital Orange County Pediatric Neurology Residency Program and an assistant clinic professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Pearson completed her undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis and her medical education at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She then did residency in Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology at UC-Irvine and CHOC, followed by a fellowship in Sports Neurology and Traumatic Brain Injury at the UC-Los Angeles Steve Tisch BrainSPORT Program. She is board-certified in Pediatric Neurology and Brain Injury Medicine. As Director of the Brain Injury Program, Dr. Pearson serves as the medical director for multidisciplinary CHOC’s Concussion and TBI program and also for the Pediatric Stroke program. Dr. Pearson’s has research interests both in pediatric stroke and concussion with a focus in persistent post concussive symptoms, post-concussive autonomic dysfunction, and post-traumatic headache. She has published her research in multiple peer-reviewed journals, contributed to book chapters, and presented at regional, national, and international conferences.
Meeryo Choe, MD
Dr. Meeryo Choe grew up in the Los Angeles area, traveled east to attend Amherst College, where she majored in Fine Arts completing a senior thesis in Printmaking. She is currently an Associate Professor in Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Neurology, at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and the Program Director for the Child Neurology Residency Program. She is also the Associate Director of the UCLA Steve Tisch BrainSPORT Program, and helps oversee its mission, providing clinical care for injured student athletes, performing clinical research in pediatric traumatic brain injury TBI, and educating the community about sports-related concussion. Her research focuses on clinical outcome after pediatric TBI, with interests in post-concussive autonomic dysfunction and gender disparities in concussion incidence and recovery. She was a co-author on the CDC’s pediatric mTBI review and guidelines published in JAMA Pediatrics, and is a site-PI for the CARE4Kids U54, a multi-institutional longitudinal pediatric concussion study. An avid equestrian and former swimmer, Dr. Choe coaches as well, giving her a unique perspective on an athlete’s desire to return to his/her sport and the outside pressures they might experience.
J. Michael Taylor, MD
Dr. Taylor is a neurocritical care and stroke neurologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. He is co-lead for the Neurocritical Care fellowship and Director of the Pediatric Stroke Program for the hospital. His research work focuses on addressing barriers to return-to-school after brain injury, leveraging aggressive outpatient therapies for cognitive recovery, and identifying risk factors for stroke in pediatric cerebrovascular disease.
