Radha Giridharan, MD
Radha Giridharan received her Medical education in India. She completed her Pediatric Residency in Brooklyn Jewish Medical Center followed by Fellowship in Pediatric Neurology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She has been a proud Brooklyn native ever since she arrived to the US in 1974.
Dr. Giridharan is a clinician and general Pediatric Neurologist. She has enjoyed the challenges and privilege of caring for her young patients, many of whom are nonverbal. She is a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. She has participated in many clinical studies and trials, especially in sickle cell disease. Her passion is teaching and making Pediatric Neurology learning easy and interesting for Medical Students, Residents and Fellows. She has motivated many of them to pursue a career in Pediatric Neurology. She has won several awards as ‘Best Teacher’ including the AB Baker award from the Academy of Neurology.
Dr. Giridharan is also actively involved in fund-raising for the ‘Brooklyn Childrens’ Society’ and ‘Heart and Hand for the Handicapped’. The mission of these organizations is to improve the lives of children.
She has attended most of the Annual CNS Meetings from 1979. She enjoys the academic content of the meetings along with the camaraderie of friends and colleagues. She takes pleasure in organizing a dinner during every annual meeting she attends at a local Indian Restaurant for the Indian (and Honorary Indian) Pediatric Neurologists.
