Darius Ebrahimi-Fakhari, MD, PhD

Dr. Ebrahimi-Fakhari completed his child neurology residency at Boston Children’s Hospital in June 2021. He is the first, and only, three-time recipient of the CNS Outstanding Junior Member Award given to residents based on abstracts presented to the CNS Scientific Program Committee for presentation at the CNS Annual Meeting. Darius completed undergraduate and medical school studies at Ruprecht-Karls University Heidelberg, Heidelberg University Hospital before entering the combined residency program at Boston Children’s Hospital. His work in Mustafa Sahin’s laboratory at BCH has focused on Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) as a genetically tractable model of mTORC1-dependent autophagy in neurons. He has, in addition, led several clinical research projects aimed at understanding rare genetic movement disorders associated with PRRT2 mutations (Neurology, Brain) and more recently hereditary spastic paraplegia type SPG47, a disorder again linked to deficits in autophagy.
