The purpose of this webinar is to introduce the WHO’s framework for health (the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health or ICF) and the ‘F-words for Child Development’ – a whimsical animation of the ICF now being used by parents, service providers and service programs around the world. The presentation will be designed to elicit discussion and questions.

Goals/Accomplishment of the Webinar

By the end of this webinar participants will:

  • Be familiar with the WHO’s ICF framework for health and CanChild Centre’s F-words adaptation of the ICF;
  • Understand potential uses of the F-words tools – for clinical services, for teaching, for research
  • Know how to access a wide range of free F-words resources for families, students and colleagues

About the Speakers

Peter Rosenbaum, MD, FRCP(C), DSc (HC), FRCPI Hon (Paed) RCPI

Peter Rosenbaum is a Developmental Pediatrician, health services researcher, author, editor, lecturer, and mentor with a career-long interest in the challenges – for children and their families – of neurodisability. He is the author of 450 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and author or editor of five books in the field. His current focus is on child and family well being in the context of ‘disability’, with particular interest in whether and how we can prevent much of the physical and mental health morbidity to which parents and families of children with disabilities are known to be at risk.
