Abstracts of papers to be considered for presentation at the 37TH Annual Meeting of the Child Neurology Society must be submitted on-line by April 4, 2008. The meeting will be held November 5-8, 2008 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
No faxed, e-mailed, or hard copy submissions will be accepted. Questions may be referred to rblarson@childneurologysociety.org
Abstracts are evaluated on the basis of originality, significance, information content, relevance to child neurology, and scientific/technical precision. The program includes the highest ranked papers with adjustments for coherence of sessions. The Scientific Program Committee reserves the right to assign papers for platform or poster presentation. Accepted abstracts will be published in the September Annals of Neurology. Authors of abstracts are encouraged to submit completed manuscripts to the Annals. Please request permission from the editor prior to submitting manuscript to another journal.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Step 1: CONTACT INFORMATION

Step 2: ABSTRACT INFORMATION
- Enter Title
Enter full abstract title as it should (and will) appear in Annals and Meeting Program - Enter Authors
List all authors in the order they should appear in Annals and Meeting Program:- Author(s): Last Name followed by First & Last Initial ONLY – NO DEGREE
- City/State/Country: – DO NOT ENTER INSTITUTIONAL ID
Step 3: FORMAT & UPLOAD ABSTRACT FILE – (MS Word file only)

Abstracts must not exceed 250 words (title and author ID not included). Abstracts exceeding 250 word limit will be automatically rejected. - Abstract Format
- ALL ABSTRACTS MUST BE UPLOADED AS MS WORD FILES
- Abstracts should be broken into four-header format with each header bolded and all other text in regular type:
- Objective
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusions
- Abstract Type/Font/Spacing
- Single-space title
- Double-space body
- Use 12 pt Times Roman or Arial
- Graphics: Graphics (including charts) may be embedded in document. All text counts toward 250 word maximum.
- Filename: File name of uploaded abstract must not exceed 16 characters. Simple filename (abstract.doc) is best.
- DO NOT include characters in filename compromising anonymity (e.g., author's name)
- Uploaded file should include Abstract Title and Abstract Body only;
DO NOT include author ID information
Step 4: SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION

Abstracts of presentations made at other professional meetings will be considered for presentation at the CNS meeting in those cases where the author has provided proof that the material was presented to a substantially different audience. - Financial Disclosure/Grants (leave blank if none)
The CNS requires authors to disclose their sources of funding (commercial or institutional/government grant). Author must account for any substantial personal financial relationship relating to support of submitted abstract, including salaries, ownership, equity positions, stock options, royalties, consulting fees and honoraria for speaking, material support and other financial arrangements. All sources of funding support will be listed with the abstract in the official program booklet and/or announced from the podium at the beginning of the presentation. - Presentation AV Requirements
Indicate presentation needs OTHER THAN PowerPoint (e.g., 35 mm Slide Projector, Video) - Outstanding Junior Member/Resident Award
- ENTER DATE TRAINING WILL BE COMPLETED. To qualify, first author must be Junior Member of the CNS enrolled in a three-year accredited training program as of April 4, 2008.
- Eligibility for the award should be verified by letter from training director; letter may be e-mailed to rblarson@childneurologysociety.org.
- Up to four awards will be given with travel and hotel arrangements paid for by the CNS.

Step 5: CONTACT INFORMATION

Step 6: ACCEPTANCE/NON-ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION
- Acceptance notice will be issued via e-mail to contact author May 15.
- Notice of non-acceptance will be issued via e-mail to contact author May 30.
- Roster of accepted abstracts will be posted on the CNS Website May 30.
Step 7: REGISTRATION & PRESENTATION
- All presenting authors must register for the annual meeting and present at their assigned times. On-line registration begins and printed registration material will be mail on or before July 1. Early Registration Discount Deadline: October 7, 2008.
- Material presented at the meeting must be substantively identical to that presented in the abstract.
